I have a bunch of LEGO Speed Champions sets but I usually don’t pay attention to the rest of the catalog. I s aw these two sets as I was flipping through it  today and I’m pretty impressed. They’re more pink than I would’ve gone for, even as a little girl, but they’re cool nonetheless.

Saw these at walmart the other and pointed them out to my daughter hoping she would want them... she wasn't impressed. So I ended up getting the WRC Fiesta for myself and chose Minecraft toys. Sigh...

I’m conflicted about this stuff. I love that it encourages interest and participation, but I sink a little inside because in this case it’s kind of the same thing as a women only racing series.

I’m better with it for children than I am for adults. It’s hard for a six year old to stand up to peer pressure so if making it pink makes racing/cars cool , I can accept that. At least it isn’t a set where the boys are racing and the girls are scantily clad and holding the trophies.

I had a Corvette racing jacket as a child that I LOVED until I wore it to school and got picked on. I still remember crying after school that day.

Man I had this set growing up and it was glorious. Screw their gendered branding, I’d still get it if I was a kid because a complete racing set is rare from lego nowadays. To get some buildings and a bunch of cars? Fucking sweet!

I also had the hot rod club and combined those two, as well as a mechanic shop, to make a sweet racing complex to house all my lego cars. Ugh. Now I want to spend my adult money on buying old lego kits...
